A BARROW market trader struggling with ill health is appealing for kind-hearted volunteers to help save her stall.

Insight Card Readings opened in Barrow market earlier this year but it set to face closure as its owner, Natalie Davey, undergoes surgery.

Miss Davey's story began last year after a split from her partner left her with no job and little money.

After being diagnosed with endometriosis, Miss Davey struggled to find employment and was facing Christmas with no heating, electricity, or presents for her eight year-old son.

However, with a little help from Women Community Matters - an organisation that strives to support and celebrate women - Miss Davey had a Christmas to be thankful for with anonymous gift donations and enough heating and electricity to see through the festive season.

In the New Year, Miss Davey, 27, set about expanding her business as a card reader and set up a stall in Barrow market with the help and persuasion of her customers.

"My customers helped me set up," explained Miss Davey.

"They donated things and helped to decorate the stall and helped me advertise."

With the help of close friends and other customers, Miss Davey has enjoyed a steady flow of customers who have claimed to have transformed their lives with the help of Miss Davey's psychic skills.

However, on Tuesday Miss Davey, of Mill Lane, Walney, is set to go into hospital for surgery and could be away from her stall for up to six weeks until she recovers.

A quick save from Women Community Matters has meant the stall will be occupied as a drop-in centre for women during her absence but volunteers are desperately needed to make the venture a success and ensure Miss Davey has a stall to come back to.

"I want to help people because - well, why not?", Miss Davey said.

"Why shouldn't you help people?

"I'm a massive believer in karma - if everyone just helps each other a little bit I think we would all be living in a much better place."
