ALMSHOUSES to architectural mysteries feature in talks being held by the Kendal Historical and Archaeological Society.

On Monday, February 6, Edward Mills will speak on ‘Ancient Woodlands in Cumbria’.

Louise Martin, of Morecambe Bay Partnership, has the title ‘Unravelling the Mysteries: Recent investigations at Jenny Brown’s Point and Warton Crag’ on March 6.

On Monday, April 3, there is the annual meeting and a presentation from Dr Jean Turnbull on ‘Almshouses in the North West: Past and present’.

Meetings of the society are held in the Shakespeare Centre, off Highgate, Kendal, from 7.30 p.m.

The annual subscription is £10, but visitors are welcome at a fee of £2.50 per lecture.
