TWO photographers are calling for help to fund an exhibition in Keswick of images of the Lake District at night.

Rod Ireland and Jonny Marchant want to stage their exhibition, featuring scenes including Ashness Bridge and Catbells after dark, at the Moot Hall from August 24 to 29.

They have launched a crowdfunding scheme on Kickstarter to help pay for the venture and need to raise £2,000 by May 16.

They are more than half-way to reaching their total and hope to reach it to help provide a free exhibition in the flood-hit town.

Rod, of Askham, said: "Keswick was just one of the places in Cumbria which suffered terribly from the floods.

"I hope the amazing and enchanting photographs from this exhibition can help replace the images of those dramatic events in people’s minds, and raise the county’s profile in a way which is new and different.

"Everyone has seen beautiful images of the Lake District, but we want to show everyone that this place is truly amazing at night too.

"It’s going to give visitors a completely different view of Cumbria."

Jonny, of Kendal, added: "A major element in the exhibition is our diverse interpretation of the subjects, the differences in our work and what we wish to convey."

Kickstarter is a crowd funding platform for creative projects.

Rod and Jonny are also applying for grants towards the exhibition and putting in funding themselves.

Achieving £2,000 of crowdfunding would go a long way towards producing a free exhibition.
