THE Memories Page has a copy of the new photographic book to be won - which shows how much Barrow and its surrounding communities have changed in the past 40 years

It is called Shadows From Our Past and draws on pictures of places such as Barrow, Askam, Ulverston and Greenodd by Brian Moxham, who runs the collectables shop in Scott Street, Barrow called Pepperland Collect.

Colour pictures from 1969 to 1985 feature in this third photographic book of Furness by Mr Moxham.

It also includes a few earlier black and white images by Frank Quayle of places such as the Coliseum cinema on the corner of Rawlinson Street, the Ritz and the Odeon.

There is plenty to fascinate transport fans, including a railway derailment, the Dlying Scotsman and views of more modern locomotives at places such as Askam, Ulverston and Park South level crossing.

You can watch the thrilling action at a race meeting of Barrow speedway team the Furness Flyers at the Park Road stadium and see the builders in action as the new road goes past Ormsgill in the 1980s.

A skyline of big cranes used to be a notable feature in Barrow and the book shows them by day and night, along with a selection of views of more unusual industrial activities in Barrow.

If you want to be in with a chance to win our copy of the book worth £14.99 in soft cover, tell us the name of one of Barrow’s lost cinemas.
