NICOLA Crawford, 40, a full-time housewife, and Michael Halliday, 43, a forklift truck driver, both from Barrow, married in New York, on June 5
How they met: The couple met on a night out and have been seeing each other for 12 years.
Proposal: The groom proposed on Nicola’s 30th birthday party in front of family and friends. He sang Hey Baby, changing the lyrics to “Will you be my wife?” Michael then asked again on Nicola’s 40th birthday when the couple started planning their big day.
Venue: Central Park, Manhattan, New York, USA.
Bride’s outfit: The bride wore an ivory Ronald Joyce gown, with ladonna corset, beaded sequins, and sweetheart neck. The gown featured a dropped waist and cathedral train with lace details.
Groom’s outfit: The groom wore a grey Prince Edward, three quarter length, single breasted jacket, black trousers and a cream waistcoat with a white, Victorian winged shirt and purple ruche.
Bridesmaids: The bride’s sister, Donna Low, was bridesmaid and the bride’s nieces, Olivia Low and Melissa Gibbs, were flower girls. The bridesmaid and flower girls wore purple dresses from Debenhams.
Flowers: A friend of the couple, Karen Doyle, arranged the flowers. The bride carried a bouquet of purple roses and cream calla lilies. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of cream roses and the groom’s buttonhole was a single calla lily.
Transport: The couple travelled in a New York stretch limousine.
Reception: The couple celebrated their wedding with a dinner dance cruise around lower Manhattan, Hudson River, and sailed past the Statue of Liberty.
First dance: The couple had their first dance to Otis Redding, These Arms of Mine.
Entertainment: The couple celebrated their night do with 230 guests on their return to Barrow.
The evening reception was held in The Nines, Dalkeith Street. Stuart Rodgers did the disco and guests had a pie and pea supper.
Honeymoon: New York.
