Joanne Ray and Michael Mould

BARROW couple, Joanne Ray, 29, a registered general nurse in A&E, and Michael Mould, 29, a sergeant in the 1st Battalion Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, tied the knot on a sunny day in Dalton

How they met: On a night out six years ago.

Proposal: On a romantic weekend away in Edinburgh in 2010.

Venue: Chequers Hotel, Dalton.

Theme: Vintage/Armed Forces.

Bride's Outfit: From Eternity by Nina, an Amanda Wyatt “Hepburn” tulle and satin strapless gown. Sweetheart neckline with added embellished detail, pleated bodice and floral waistband detail with lace appliqués. An Ellis Bridal short sleeved Bolero jacket with a train was an alternative to a veil. An Amanda Wyatt crystal encrusted head band finished the outfit.

Groomsmen: Joe Faulder, Michael’s good friend, was his best man. Joanne’s brother, Michael, was an usher alongside Michael’s brothers Johnathan, Aaron and Brandon. All wore formal wear from Mr Mister, Barrow.

Bridesmaids: Carly Tippett and Claire Wood, Joanne’s good school friends, who wore Ebony Rose dresses, also from Eternity by Nina.

Flowers: Deborahs of Ainslie Street, who were creative in providing a vintage look to the bouquets with peonies, avalanche roses, cool water roses and wax flower. The bride’s bouquet had added lace and pearls.

Transport: Rolls Royce provided by Gordon Hall.

Reception: Chequers Hotel.

Table settings: Themed with table names linked to the meaning of love.

Favours: Charity pin badges from donations made on behalf of guests by the bride and groom to Cancer Research and Help for Heroes.

Cake: A three-tier round cake made by the Cake Crusader, of vanilla sponge, lemon and chocolate orange. Iced in ivory with sugar peony flowers with a lustre finish.

First Dance: Jack Johnson, Better Together.

Entertainment: Magic Richie did magic tricks throughout the day and at the night do Steve Silver played a wide range of music to suit all and also sang a variety of well-known songs to get guests up dancing.

Honeymoon: A week away at Center Parcs with a honeymoon abroad to be arranged when the groom gets back from Afghanistan early next year.

Photographer: Steve Hillman, who took a variety of natural and staged shots. Joanne said: “He took us up Birkrigg to get some lovely pictures with fantastic views! He made us both feel very comfortable to gain some memorable photos for our album. They’re all great with too many to choose from!”
