First anniversary will be marked with town show

POPULAR classical music event Limelight celebrates its first anniversary with a show in Ulverston this weekend.
The open mic-style events see musicians of all ages perform music in a wide range of styles, both instrumental and vocal.
An accompanist and a grand piano will be on hand in the Supper Room of the Coronation Hall this Sunday, and the musician can bring along a piece or five minutes of music to perform.
Limelight has been organised by Deborah Milledge and sponsored by The Full Octave. Deborah says: “It’s great how Limelight has been taken up by the musical world of Furness and beyond.
“Many people are polishing music for their grade exams at the moment, and giving five minutes’ worth on Sunday will be a great practice for them. However, I am also keen to provide a performance goal in itself, and I know Limelight is a real encouragement to some musicians who don’t have any other opportunities to perform.
“Our atmosphere is friendly and supportive, and we always have a good time. Our audience also enjoys the chance to meet and appreciate our local musicians.”
Doors open at 7pm and entrance is payable on the door.
Musicians can reserve a spot to perform any classical music by telephoning 01229 480185 or via www.limelightperformance.co.uk.
