Acts join forces to entertain crowds at charity show

SANCTUARY plays host to a six-act charity show tomorrow night, featuring the cream of local talent.

The venue in Abbey Road, Barrow, stages the Families Matter event, headlined by indie outfit Atlas.

The Barrow band will be playing material from their as-yet-untitled new album, as well as the highlights from their back catalogue.

Fellow indie favourites Audio Conspiracy are also set to make an appearance. The young band, who count Kings of Leon, The Strokes, Editors and Arctic Monkeys among their many and wide-ranging influences, were selected to appear at the Radio 1 Big Weekend warm-up show in Carlisle last summer.

Furness post-punk outfit Last Gang in Town are also on the bill, bringing their psychedelic mix of their own material and a handful of covers.

Acoustic singer-songwriters Olivia Lumb, Jade Connolly and Freshman complete the line-up.

The show, which starts at around 8pm, will raise money for Families Matter, a counselling and support service that aims to promote emotional well-being, improve mental health, and reduce the impact of poverty in the Furness and South Lakes area by providing a professional counselling service for children, young people and their families. Entrance is payable on the door.
