Relaxation is at your fingertips

STRESS seems to be an unavoidable hazard of our hectic lives but today, on National Stress Awareness Day, we’re being urged to smile and hug more to try to beat this 21st century ailment.
These are just a couple of the heart-warming tips from the International Stress Management Association (ISMA) - but let’s face it, there’s nothing like a quick-fix pampering session to get us relaxed and glowing.
Don’t despair (or get stressed) though if those pricey massage or beauty treatments are now out-of-reach luxuries in these cash-strapped times, because there’s an easy and cheap way to get some of those effects.
A new handbag-size book, Quick & Easy: Face Massage could be the answer.
It’s full of five minute DIY self-massages for the face to de-stress, energise and even make us look younger.
Author and massage expert Beata Aleksandrowicz believes facial massage is an effective alternative to expensive treatments and cosmetic procedures - and a great way to boost wellbeing.
“It increases blood circulation, firming the skin and toning the muscles, encourages the flow of lymph and literally helps to release endorphin, the hormone of joy,” she says.
“That’s why after a face massage we look younger and more confident.”

  • Quick & Easy: Face Massage by Beata Aleksandrowicz is published by Duncan Baird Publishers, priced £5.99. Available November 15.
Have your say

A lot of stress is created by the News Media, for the sole purpose of keeping those at the bottom of the pile, deep down.
The weather is on all channels none stop,
what the hell can we do about the weather, nothing.
What can we do about the price of oil -nothing.
What can we do about the exhorbitant bonuses paid to the fat cats - nothing.
What can we do about Jobs and immigration -nothing.
Because we now life in a society, regardless
of which party is in office, they only listen to the uneducated privalged few,in the House of Lords, the true bastions of our inheriant society.
We the masses have allowed it to happen,by not having the guts to stand up for what is wrong in our society.
The true blue bloods rule and always will.
My way for having no stress is.
If I wake up in the morning,I am having a good day.
I will only start worrying if I dont wake up.
As to the weather, what the hell can I do about it - nothing,so why should I worry.
If the price of something goes up,what the hell can I do about it - nothing.
If our soldiers are in conflict in another country,I back them to the hilt, and wouldn't waver my admiration for them.
As for the city lot who have created the finacial mess we are in,they should carry the can for their greed.
Working for a pittance does not bode well for the vast majority of our under privalged workers, but they are the ones who are carrying the burden, for the finacial mess we are in.
What can I do about it - nothing.
I sleep well for six hours per night, with no worries, except for family.
