THIS summer the Old Laundry Theatre in Bowness will present the world premiere of the brand new family musical adventure Where Is Peter Rabbit?
Monday June 27 will see an innovative show based on Beatrix Potter's little books and five of her best loved animal characters: Peter Rabbit, Jeremy Fisher, Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, Jemima Puddle-Duck and the darker villainous Mr Todd.
Where is Peter Rabbit? musical adventure aims to capture Potters poetry, freshness and humour, whilst bringing to life the illustrations from her best loved books.
A cast of six ensemble players will be playing everything from Beatrix Potter to Mr. McGregor, Mr. Todd and Tommy Brock; to Lucie and Ptolemy Tortoise. The cast will also be joined by some very special guest voices, Miriam Margoyles reading the stories of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle and the flighty Jemima Puddle-Duck and Griff Rhys Jones as the naughty Peter Rabbit and fish loving Jeremy Fisher tales.
Theatre designer Rodger Glossop and his theatre producer wife Charlotte Scott, owners of The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction in Bowness and the Old Laundry Theatre, wanted to bring the characters to life, which is how Where is Peter Rabbit? was created. Following Beatrix's love for the Lakes, character costumier Lucy Nye, who designed the original character costumes for the Attraction 25 years ago, is once again creating costumes for the musical.
Celebrating both The World Of Beatrix Potter Attraction's 25th anniversary and the 150th anniversary celebrations of Beatrix Potter, the 10-week run of Where Is Peter Rabbit? will play up to three shows a day throughout the summer (Monday June 27 to Sunday September 4, 2016.) The Attraction has also launched a character breakfast, afternoon tea and high-tea/supper parties, to be enjoyed before or after the live family show, in their brand new special catering and events building the Laundrama – all staying true to the genius that is Beatrix Potter.
